Professional Reflexology Practitioner Diploma (PR DIP)


The course syllabus is based on the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) Core Curriculum, incorporating the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Reflexology to ensure high quality training is provided.  On qualification, the diploma allows graduates to work as a fully qualified employed and self employed reflexologist in the world of complimentary therapies.  All the units taught have been specifically designed for Reflexologists by Reflexologists and call on  over 45 years experience.

Hand and Sole offer training and support for students which focuses on the skills and knowledge required to become a competent, practicing, professional reflexologist. To ensure that our high standards are maintained, all training and assessments are externally verified each year by an experienced Reflexology tutor.

Upon qualification, graduates can apply for registration with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) – the UK’s complementary health register.

 Course Content

The Diploma is made up of Core units:

  • Anatomy and Physiology Students study the structure of the feet and hands in details, the body systems and special senses, how they are organised interrelated and can be supported by reflexology.  Both hand and foot techniques and routines are taught.

  • Pathologies study for reflexology The four main types of disease and their classifications plus the study of reflexes relating to the pathologies and body systems.

  • Tenets of therapeutic reflexology The historical context and how reflexology has evolved. Learn how and why to plan, review and carry out treatments and become a reflective practitioner.

  • Practical therapeutic reflexology Skills, knowledge and specific techniques used in professional reflexology treatments. 

  • Professional Practice for the reflexologist including client communication skills, legal aspects and marketing.

Continual assessment covers both theory and practical learning.  There is no final exam.  The course is designed with the emphasis on practical teaching and learning, working with specific techniques and developing skills through client case studies.  Therefore, with over 100 hours of classroom time providing  practical demonstrations and learning, attendance is expected.

Study Time

Between 8/10 hours per week is expected in order to carry out Home Study elements which provide evidence of learning.  Plus, Client Case Studies, with a minimum of 100 treatments carried out over a number of clients, are required for qualification.  Students will need to have a number of volunteers willing to lend them their feet or hands.

Course fees:

The cost of this course is £2400 and covers:

      ✔Student membership of Professional Reflexology

     ✔Student insurance (18 months)

     ✔Accreditation from both Internal and External verifiers

     ✔Full access to course materials

Additional costs:

  • Uniform (req in Feb 2019)

  • Treatment chair and stool

  • Reference books (as required)

  • Consumables (discussed on induction day)

  • an email address and computer/laptop with internet access (to keep paper usage to a minimum)

This will be discussed at the interview stage.

Payment options:

A deposit of £400 will secure a place following a successful interview is part payment of the course fees and is non-returnable.. 

Then either

  1. pay £2000 balance on induction day (13 January 2019). Or

  2. pay £600 on induction day then pay £140 for 10 months
